The then and now display
The wedding photo next to a recent one, at the same size, side by side. It is the simplest display on this site and reliably the one guests stand in front of longest. For a fiftieth, adding one photo per decade in between turns it into a timeline.
Milestone years
The ones usually marked with a party are the tenth, twenty-fifth, fortieth, fiftieth and sixtieth. Traditional materials give you a theme if you want one: paper at one, silver at twenty-five, gold at fifty, diamond at sixty.
Anniversary party questions
Who hosts an anniversary party?
For a milestone anniversary, usually the couple's children. For earlier ones, the couple themselves.
When should invitations go out?
Four to six weeks for a party, eight for a milestone where guests travel.
Should there be speeches?
Two or three, kept short. A children-of-the-couple speech and one from a long-standing friend covers it.
What do you write in an anniversary card?
Something specific about the two of them together rather than generic congratulations. One observation about their marriage beats any amount of milestone language.
