Running an egg hunt that lasts more than four minutes

Clue cards are the difference between a hunt that fills a morning and one that is over before the coffee is poured. Each clue leads to the next location, with an egg at every stop. Six to eight clues is right for children over five. For under-fives, skip clues and just scatter eggs at their eye level.

If you have children of different ages, run two colours of egg: one colour reserved for the little ones, hidden in easy places. It heads off the usual problem of a nine-year-old clearing the garden in ninety seconds.

Six to eight for ages five to ten. Fewer and shorter for younger children.

Can I edit the clues for my own house?

Yes, and you will need to. Every clue is an editable text box so you can point them at your own garden, shed or bookshelf.

What paper should I use for clue cards?

Cardstock if they are going outside, since paper wilts in dew. Ordinary paper is fine indoors.

What works for a mixed age group?
