Printable Wedding Invitations

Wedding invitations are usually one of the first big line items in a wedding budget, and one of the easiest to bring down. A printed invitation suite from a stationer typically runs several dollars per guest before postage. A template costs the same whether you invite forty people or two hundred and fifty.

Every design in this collection opens in Canva. You change the names, the date, the venue and the RSVP details, then export the file and print it however you like.

What a full invitation suite includes

  • Main invitation — the 5x7 card with the core details
  • RSVP card — usually 3.5x5, with a meal choice if you are serving a plated dinner
  • Details card — accommodation, transport, dress code and your wedding website
  • Envelope liner and address labels for a finished look

You do not need all four. Many couples send just the invitation and point guests to a website for everything else, which is cheaper and easier to keep up to date.

Printing at home versus a print shop

Home printing works if you have a decent inkjet and buy proper cardstock, around 250 to 300 gsm. It gives you full control and lets you reprint a spoiled card immediately. A print shop gives crisper color and heavier stock, and for a hundred plus invitations it is usually worth the twenty or thirty dollars.

Wedding invitation questions

When should wedding invitations be sent?

Six to eight weeks before the wedding for a local wedding, and three months for a destination wedding or one where most guests need to travel and book accommodation. Save the dates go out six to twelve months ahead.

What should a wedding invitation say?

Who is hosting, the names of the couple, the date and time, the venue and address, and how to RSVP. Formal weddings spell out dates and times in words; modern ones use numerals. Both are correct. Our wedding invitation wording guide has host lines for every family situation, including divorced and deceased parents.

What size are wedding invitations?

5x7 inches is the standard, fitting an A7 envelope. RSVP cards are usually 3.5x5 and fit an A1 envelope. The templates come in these sizes and can be resized in Canva.

Can I change the fonts and colors?

Yes. Every element is editable. You can enter exact hex codes to match your palette, and swap fonts for anything in Canva's library.

How many invitations should I order?

Count households, not people, then add ten percent. One invitation per couple or family, plus spares for mistakes and for keepsakes.

Can I send these as digital invitations?

Yes. Export as JPG or PDF and send by email or WhatsApp. Many couples post to older relatives and send digitally to everyone else.
