Printable Birth Announcements
A birth announcement is one of the few things people still put on a fridge and leave there for months. It is also something you will be making while running on very little sleep, which is the argument for a template you only have to type four numbers into.

What to include
The baby's full name, date of birth, time, weight and length, and the parents' names. That is all it needs. Anything about the birth itself is a conversation, not a card.
A note on photos and privacy
Plenty of parents now send a printed announcement with a photo to family and a text-only version for anything public. If you would rather the baby's face not be posted, say so plainly when you send it. People generally respect it when asked directly and assume permission when not.
Birth announcement questions
When should I send them?
Within the first two months. Later is fine, and combining it with a thank you card is a common solution when the first weeks disappear.
What size should they be?
5x7 inches, or 4x6 which posts more cheaply and fits standard photo frames.
Do I have to include a photo?
No. Text-only announcements with the name and stats are a long-standing format and look elegant.
Can I send it digitally?
Yes. Export as JPG for messaging, and print a small number for grandparents and for the keepsake box.
What paper should I use?
250 to 300 gsm matte cardstock. Matte suits photographs of newborns better than gloss, which exaggerates redness in skin tones.
Can I use the same design as a thank you card?
Yes. Duplicate it in Canva and change the wording on the back.
