The first and last day pair
Take the same photo in September and June with matching signs. Side by side, the difference across one school year is startling, and it costs two sheets of paper. Doing it every year from kindergarten produces something worth more than most of what gets photographed.
Lunchbox notes
Print a sheet of small notes and cut them once. Better than writing one each morning, and children keep them for longer than you would guess.
Back to school questions
What size should first day signs be?
8x10 or A4. Large enough to read in a photo, small enough for a child to hold.
What paper should I use?
250 gsm matte cardstock. Gloss reflects morning light and ruins the photo.
Can I reuse the sign each year?
Edit the grade and year in Canva and print again. Keeping the same design across the years makes the set look deliberate.
What makes a good teacher gift tag?
A name and one specific line about the year. Attach it to something practical rather than another mug.
Do chore charts work?
Better when the child helps fill it in and it is somewhere visible. Every task is editable, so you can build it around your own routine.
