Printable Baby Shower Planning Checklists
Hosting a baby shower involves more moving parts than people expect: a guest list you did not write, a registry you are not managing, dietary requirements, games, prizes, and a mum-to-be who may not want half of it. A checklist keeps it from turning into a series of late-night texts.

A rough timeline
Eight weeks out: agree the date, guest list and budget with the mum-to-be. Six weeks: book the venue or confirm whose house. Four to six weeks: send invitations. Three weeks: order or plan food. Two weeks: buy games, prizes and decorations. One week: chase non-responders. Two days: shop for fresh food, print everything.
Planning questions
Who should I ask about the guest list?
The mum-to-be, always, even for a surprise shower. Someone will be missed off otherwise, and it is the one mistake that causes real upset.
How long should a baby shower be?
Two to two and a half hours. Long enough for food, games and presents; short enough that a heavily pregnant person is not stuck hosting for an afternoon.
What is the usual budget?
Enormously variable. The things that reliably matter are decent food and somewhere comfortable to sit. Decorations and favours are where budgets get eaten with the least return.
Can I share the checklist with a co-host?
Print two copies, or share the Canva design with them for editing so you are both working from the same list.
What gets forgotten most often?
Pens for the games, a bag to carry presents home in, and food for anyone with a dietary requirement who mentioned it once six weeks ago.
