Printable Graduation Party Templates

Graduation season is compressed. Ceremonies, parties and family visits all land in the same three weeks, usually while the graduate is still finishing exams. Printable templates let you organise a party in an evening rather than waiting on a print order.

Everything is editable in Canva, so one design covers a high school graduation, a college graduation or a postgraduate ceremony by changing a few words.

What's in this collection

  • Graduation party invitations and announcements, with space for a photo
  • Welcome signs and congratulations banners
  • Photo display signs — a timeline of school years, which reliably makes at least one parent cry
  • Guest book and advice cards for the graduate
  • Food table signs and menus
  • Thank you cards for gifts afterwards

Announcements versus invitations

These are different things and people confuse them. An announcement tells extended family and friends that the graduate has finished, and does not require anything of them. An invitation asks people to come to a party. Sending an announcement to someone far away is not a request for a gift, though many recipients send one anyway.

Graduation questions

When should I send graduation party invitations?

Three to four weeks before. Graduation season is busy and people are juggling several ceremonies, so earlier is better than later.

Should I include a photo?

Yes. A senior photo on the invitation is close to standard, and it is the detail that makes people keep it on the fridge.

What do I write in a graduation announcement?

The graduate's full name, the school, the degree or diploma, and the date of the ceremony. Keep it short and formal in tone.

Can one design work for both high school and college?

Yes. Every text field is editable, including the year and the school name.

What should I print signs on?

250 gsm cardstock for table signs. Print larger welcome signs and photo displays at a print shop, on foam board if they need to stand.
