Printable Thank You Cards

Thank you cards are the job everyone puts off. Having a stack already printed and sitting on the table is most of what gets them written, which is the argument for buying a template rather than a boxed set you have to go out and find.

All editable in Canva, with a blank inside for the handwritten part that actually matters.

Thank you cards for

  • Weddings — with or without a photo from the day
  • Baby showers and birth announcements combined
  • Birthdays, children's and adults'
  • Bridal showers and engagement parties
  • Graduations and retirements
  • Christmas and general occasions

What to write

Three or four lines. Name the specific gift, say how you have used it or will use it, thank them for coming, sign off. That is the entire formula and it works for every occasion on this page.

For money, name what it is going towards rather than the amount. For people who sent something but could not attend, swap the third line for something about missing them.

Thank you card questions

How long do I have to send them?

Two to three weeks after most events. Three months after a wedding is the commonly cited window. Past six months a note starts reading as an apology.

What size should they be?

5x7 or A6, folded or flat. Folded gives you a blank inside for handwriting and fits standard envelopes.

How many should I print?

One per household on your guest list plus ten to fifteen percent. There are always people who send something without attending.

Can I add a photo?

Yes. Upload it in Canva and drop it into the image frame. Wedding and baby thank you cards with a photo tend to get kept.

What paper should I use?

250 to 300 gsm cardstock. Thin paper shows ink through from the handwritten side.

Do I need to thank someone who did not bring a gift?

Not required, but a short note thanking them for coming is a kind touch and costs nothing.
