Boho Party Printables

Boho is defined by its palette more than its shapes: terracotta, rust, cream, muted sage, dusty pink. Add arches, pampas grass, dried florals and hand-drawn line work, and you have the look that has dominated baby showers and small weddings for the past several years.

All editable in Canva.

What makes boho read as boho

  • Warm, muted colours with nothing bright and nothing cold
  • Arch shapes framing the text
  • Dried textures such as pampas, palm, eucalyptus and wheat
  • Relaxed typography pairing a serif with a handwritten script
  • Plenty of empty space

The mistake to avoid

Boho falls apart when it gets crowded. The whole look depends on negative space around the arch and the type. If you find yourself filling the corners with more dried grass, the design was already doing its job before you started.

Where it works

Baby showers, bridal showers, small weddings, milestone birthdays, and anything held outdoors or in a room with wooden furniture. It sits badly in a formal hotel ballroom.

Boho theme questions

What colours count as boho?

Terracotta, rust, burnt orange, cream, sand, sage, olive and dusty rose. Avoid anything saturated or cool-toned.

Does boho work for a gender neutral baby shower?

Yes, and it is one of the main reasons the theme became so common. The palette carries no gender signal at all.

What paper suits boho designs?

Matte cream or natural cardstock rather than bright white. Recycled or textured stock suits the look and costs about the same.

Can I combine boho with floral?

Yes. Boho with dried florals in muted tones is the most common version of both themes.

Will terracotta print accurately?

It tends to come out more brown and less orange on a home printer. Test one before printing a batch, or send the file to a print shop.
