Printable Guest Book Alternatives & Advice Cards
A traditional guest book gets signed by everyone and read by nobody. Advice cards and wish cards get read repeatedly, usually at two in the morning during a difficult week, which is a better return on the same twenty minutes of guests' time.
Everything here is editable in Canva, so you can write your own prompts.

Why prompts matter
Hand someone a blank card and ask for advice and you will get "sleep when the baby sleeps" forty times. Give them a specific prompt — "the thing nobody told me about the first month" or "one thing you would do differently" — and you get answers worth keeping.
Guest book questions
How many cards should I print?
One per guest plus ten spares. People make mistakes and want to start again, and some write two.
Where do I put them?
Near the entrance or on the food table, with pens and a box or basket. Somewhere people pass more than once.
How do I actually get people to fill them in?
Ask directly, or put a small sign explaining it. Left unmentioned, roughly half the room will walk past.
What paper should I use?
250 gsm cardstock. These are keepsakes and thin paper does not survive being kept in a box for eighteen years.
What do I do with them afterwards?
A ring binder, a keepsake box, or a photo album with pockets. Time capsule cards go in a sealed envelope with the opening date written on the front.
Do these work for a virtual shower?
Yes. Send the card as a PDF, ask guests to fill it in and post or photograph it.
