Western has moved well beyond novelty. Between country weddings, rodeo-themed first birthdays and the current run of cowboy-styled bachelorette weekends, it is one of the fastest growing party themes.

Two versions of western
They are quite different and worth choosing between before you buy.
Rustic western is the grown-up version: leather browns, cream, muted sage, serif type with a slight slab, denim and desert botanicals. It suits weddings, engagement parties and adult birthdays.
Cowboy party western is the playful one: bright turquoise and red, bandana patterns, wanted posters, horseshoes and rope lettering. It suits children's birthdays and first birthdays.

Western theme questions
What colours work?
Leather brown, cream, rust, sage and denim blue for the adult version. Turquoise, red, mustard and black for the playful one.
What fonts suit western?
Slab serifs and condensed western display faces. Canva has several, but use the display font for headings only, since it becomes hard to read at small sizes.
What paper should I use?
Kraft or cream cardstock for the rustic version. White for the brighter cowboy version, where the colours need to pop.
Is western only for outdoor events?
No, though it sits most comfortably in barns, gardens and casual venues. In a formal hotel it can look like fancy dress.
Can I use it for a bachelorette?
Yes, and it is currently one of the most common themes for one. The itineraries and games in the bachelorette collection can be recoloured to match.
