Printable Book Club Templates

Book clubs run for years or fall apart in three months, and the difference is usually organization rather than enthusiasm. Printed discussion sheets and a reading schedule do more for a club's survival than any amount of good intentions.

All editable in Canva.

Discussion questions that work for any book

Which character would you least like to have dinner with. What would you have done differently. Did the ending earn itself. Whose story was this really. Questions like these need no preparation and produce better conversation than a publisher's reading guide, which tends to ask what the author intended.

The host rotation tracker

Print it, fill it in for the year, and pin it somewhere. The most common way a book club dies is nobody being sure whose turn it is to host, and then two months passing.

Book club questions

How many discussion questions do I need?

Six to eight. You will use three, but having spares matters when a conversation stalls.

How far ahead should the reading schedule go?

Six months to a year, chosen together. Picking books one at a time creates a decision every month, which is when clubs start to drift.

How long should a meeting be?

Two hours, with the first thirty minutes accepted as catching up rather than fought against. Everyone does it anyway.

What if half the group has not finished the book?

Normal. Ask what they thought of where they got to, and warn before spoiling the ending.

Can I edit the questions?

Yes. Every prompt is an editable text box, so you can write questions specific to the book.
